SOUTHERN BERKSHIRE YOUTH FOOTBALL INC PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
Southern Berkshire Youth Football, Inc is a recreational football program for youth ages 5-14 in Great Barrington and the surrounding towns. The purpose of the league is to develop the players football skills through physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership. We will provide a safe environment awarding each player the opportunity to develop individual skills to excel in athletics while encouraging the value of teamwork and competition. The league will function by holding practices where players will learn the rules and play actions and will be part of the Berkshire County Football League, engaging in competitive games throughout the season. SBYF Inc has established this Code of Conduct and requires that you commit to be responsible for your words and actions while attending, or participating in all events and that you conform your behavior to the following Code of Conduct:
1. I will follow the rules of the activity I represent and conduct myself in a dignified manner at all times when in the company of my team. I will ensure my uniform and my other gear is complete, safe, and in good condition at all times.
2. In any competitive aspect of my activity, I understand that winning isn't always important. Doing my best, being safe and having fun at all times is important.
3. I will treat everyone, including coaches, parents, players and officials with respect.
4. I understand that I am on a team and will be a team player. I will do this by putting my personal goals aside for the betterment of the team.
5. I will participate in every game and every practice except for illness, injury, homework or school events. If I must miss a game or practice, I will contact the team’s head coach as soon as possible.
6. I will study hard and understand that school shall takes precedence over any sports related activity.
7. I will not use unsportsmanlike conduct including foul language towards, taunt, or disrespect teammates, coaches, officials, or others I may compete against.
SOUTHERN BERKSHIRE YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORM RESPONSIBILITY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM
I, ____________________(Parent Name) hereby acknowledge and accept responsibility for the proper care and use of the equipment and uniform provided to me for my child _____________________ (player/cheerleaders name) by the Southern Berkshire Youth Football League. I understand that the equipment and uniform are the property of the league and are intended for use solely during league-related activities. I agree to adhere to the following terms and conditions:
Proper Care: I will use and care for the equipment and uniform in a responsible manner. This includes ensuring that the equipment is not mistreated, damaged, or lost due to negligence. Uniforms should be washed on a gentle cycle and line dried.
Safe Usage: I will use the equipment according to its intended purpose and follow all safety guidelines provided by the league. I understand that failure to do so may result in injury and liability.
Return in Good Condition: At the conclusion of the season or upon my departure from the league, I will return all equipment and the uniform in good, clean condition. Any damage beyond normal wear and tear or loss due to my actions will be my responsibility and may result in being held financially responsible for replacement costs.
Timely Return: I understand that the equipment and uniform are required to be returned by the designated date provided by the league. Failure to return the equipment on time may result in incurring the expense of the items that are not returned.
Liability: I understand that I am responsible for the equipment and uniform provided to me. In the event of loss, damage, or theft, I will be held financially responsible for replacement costs.
Alterations: I will not alter, modify, or customize the equipment or uniform in any way without prior approval from the league.
Personal Responsibility: I acknowledge that the league is not responsible for any personal injury or harm resulting from the use of the equipment and uniform.
I have read, understood, and agree to comply with the above terms and conditions regarding the equipment and uniform provided to me by the Southern Berkshire Youth Football League. I understand that failure to adhere to these terms may result in disciplinary action or additional charges.
Bullying is prohibited during any Southern Berkshire practice, game, event, or gathering. ''Bullying'' is the repeated use by one or more persons (youth or adult), verbal or electronic expression or a physical act or gesture or any combination thereof, directed at a victim that: (i) causes physical or emotional harm to the victim or damage to the victim's property; (ii) places the victim in reasonable fear of harm to himself or of damage to his property; (iii) creates a hostile environment at any South Berkshire practice, game, event or gathering for the victim.
If a child informs their parent/guardian, coach or board member of bullying the adult being told will fill out the Anti-Bullying form. The accused bully will be asked about the situation by a board member/cheerleading coach.
If bullying is confirmed, the bully will be removed from one half-time.
If a second incident occurs, the bully will be removed from the team for the season.
If bullying is not confirmed then the accused child will have 1 more chance.
If a second accusation is made the bully will be removed from half-time.
If a third accusation is made, they will be removed from the team for the season.
All incidents must be reported via the Anti-Bullying Policy form.
In order to meet the requirements set by Berkshire County Youth Football League and to continue advancing our skills, it is important to ensure players and cheerleaders are at practices and games. The schedule is available here with required and optional dates. Cheerleading Exhibition and Competition dates are still to be determined and parents will be notified as soon as possible.
Football players who miss practices leading up to a game may be subjected to sitting out or not being able to start in the next upcoming game.
Cheerleaders who are more than 15 minutes late to warm up on game day will not be able to perform in that game's half-time regardless of the stunts they are in. If Junior or Senior Cheerleaders miss more than 4 required practices without 1 day prior notice they will be removed from the half-time and exhibitions/competitions for the remainder of the season.
